
Urara Kishida - Percussion
Urara Kishida was born in Kyoto in 1989.
She began playing drums and percussion at the age of 10.
From the age of 16 to 22, she was a member of the Kyoto City Junior Orchestra.
She studied classical percussion at Kyoto City University of Arts, majoring in percussion.
While a student, she performed as a guest percussionist with orchestras throughout the Kansai region.
She studied percussion with Masayuki Koshikawa and Tsuyoshi Yamamoto, and marimba with Mutsuko Taneya and Makoto Nakura.
Currently, she is active in a variety of projects across genres, not only focusing on classical music, but also guest appearances in musicals such as the Takarazuka Revue, crossovers with Japanese instruments such as the Koto and Shakuhachi, and supporting live performances and recordings for rock bands and singer-songwriters.
Since 2016, she has been an endorsed artist for Kyoto-based cajon manufacturer, Ryoten Cajon Factory.
In 2021, she released the first and second parts of the CD "Suite: Goat's Song" as a duo with pianist Tanaka K-suke, and embarked on a release commemorative live tour in six cities: Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Yamanashi, and Sapporo.
In 2023, she appeared as the percussion soloist in Yoshimatsu Takashi's "Cyberbird Concerto" at the 5th diversEnsemble Regular Concert.
In 2024, she performed alongside calligrapher Watanabe Yuko's live painting at the opening ceremony of her solo exhibition in Paris, France.
In 2025, after passing an audition, she became a regular performer at the daily African drum show held at the African Dining Hall "PANAF'" at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
